Dev Log #20 โ€” Wiki Accuracy Update

Documentation matters. When the wiki says something works one way but the game does another, that's a bug โ€” just a different kind.

Today we did a full audit of the Zoo RPG Wiki to ensure every page accurately reflects the current implementation. No more guesswork, no more outdated claims.


๐Ÿ” What We Fixed

1) Rarity & Popularity

Old claim: "Rarer animals add more to your zoo's overall popularity."

Reality: Rarity affects collection value and breeding prestige, but it doesn't directly influence the popularity formula.

Fixed:

  • Removed the incorrect claim from the Visitors & Popularity page
  • Updated the Rarity page to focus on what rarity actually affects: collection uniqueness and pride of ownership

2) Worker Salaries

Already accurate: The wiki correctly states that workers are paid per tick (every 60 seconds), not daily. Salaries scale with the number of animals in their enclosure, and are automatically deducted from your balance.

This was verified against the actual tick worker implementation.

We cross-referenced all wiki pages with the codebase and database schema to confirm these features are fully implemented and accurately documented:

  • Illness & Quarantine โ€” Full system with 5 illnesses, spread mechanics, auto-cure, immunity, and outbreak detection
  • Player Profiles โ€” Bios, favourite animals, public profile pages
  • Achievements โ€” Tiered achievement system with unlock tracking
  • Story Feed โ€” Global and zoo-specific posts with reactions and comments
  • Daily Reports โ€” Automated visitor feedback with complaints, highlights, and scores
  • Weather System โ€” Real-world weather from OpenWeatherMap affecting hunger, health, and visitors
  • Quest System โ€” Daily and weekly quests with progress tracking
  • Breeding โ€” Pregnancy, baby care, cooldowns, trait inheritance
  • Workers โ€” Per-tick automation with XP, leveling, and salary scaling

๐Ÿ“š Why This Matters

The wiki is the source of truth for how Zoo RPG works. When it's accurate, you can make informed decisions about how to run your zoo. When it's not, you waste time chasing mechanics that don't exist or misunderstanding systems that do.

This isn't a one-time fix โ€” we'll keep the wiki in sync as features evolve.
